The roadtech road reclamation philosophy

In trying to define where it is that we and our machines work, we came up the the acronym “RAR” which stands for “Remote, Rural, Recreation, and/or Resource Access Road”.

Roads are a system of three basic elements: sub-grade, ditch-line/shoulder, and wear-coarse.  The sub-grade does not merely support the road but sets the profile, the alignment, and the drainage characteristics of the road.  The wear-coarse provides the smooth manageable running surface and sheds surface water, such as rain or snow melt, to the ditch or shoulder.  The ditch-line/shoulder escorts surface water, both from the road and surrounding sources, away from the wear-coarse and sub-grade.   If one or more of these elements fail to perform their critical functions, the entire system breaks down.  A road will suffer from the failure(s) and ultimately becomes non-maintainable.

Most road performance deterioration stems from problems in the sub-grade caused by inadequate or improper drainage.  Conventional road restoration methods only ‘cap’ the road with new material, leaving the source of the surface problem buried underneath the road surface.  The problems often will propagate itself again.

Roadtech Inc takes a bottom-up approach to road restoration.  Our crews understand that many surface problems, potholes, ruts, cracks, etc, stem from sub-grade irregularities that many times affect the integrity of the road.  The first goal of any Roadtech Inc employee to is neutralize these problems.  Once satisfied that the sub-grade is in proper condition, our crews address the grade and ditches to insure maximum drainage and drivability.
